The Waveney Rush heavy weave rush matting is hand woven and hand sewn in our workshop in Suffolk. Unlike the traditional matting, the heavy weave matting is made using our 3-ply braid, or in layman terms, the braid typically used for our basketry work. This braid is turned onto its side and hand sewn to create feature mats that are not only beautiful but also incredibly robust and hard wearing. Circular mats in a stunning spiral design are particularly popular, and this style of matting is also extremely effective in rectangular or square shaped feature rugs.
Similarly to our traditional matting, the heavy weave matting will benefit enormously from a spray of water every four to six weeks depending on the mat's proximity to sources of heat or light. Please refer to our 'Recommended Care Instructions' page for further information.
Heavy weave rush matting is priced per square meter; binding is not required. Delivery charges are not included in the square meter price and are calculated on an order to order basis. A measuring and fitting service is available upon request. Please note: As this style of matting cannot be rolled the size of the mat available to purchase is restricted to the size of door or entry point into a room as well as transport limitations. The braid measures 4cm deep and 2cm wide.
